CARDION  KARLŮV  BĚH

A FEW WORDS ON THE RACE HISTORY

Karlův Běh, a ski race named after the Father of the Nation, is the second oldest individual race on narrow skis in the Czech Republic. The idea to organize a long-distance ski race around Boží Dar, which was meant to be similar to the Swedish "Vasaloppet," came in the late 1960s from local fans of cross-country skiing - Jan Praveček Sr. and Jiří Čáslavský.

In honor of the founders, the Saturday race in the freestyle is held as the Jan Praveček Memorial, and the Sunday race in the classic style is held as the Jiří Čáslavský Memorial.
Karlův Běh is part of the "Stopa pro život" race series, which includes four very popular cross-country ski races in the Czech Republic. In addition to Karlův Běh, these are Jilemnická 50, Šumavský Skimaraton, and Krkonošská 70.

Participants in the race can enjoy exceptional facilities, including heated changing rooms separately for men and women, clothing and ski storage, free basic waxing services, well-stocked refreshment stations along the course with nutritional supplements and drinks from Nutrend, and large tents at the finish line featuring a dining area, bar, and café.
